Each light source emits a certain amount thereof, that beam of light, or Lumens (Lm). In turn, depending on how the light is subsequently processed and what is the distance from a light source to the illuminated plane, we can talk about the intensity of light, or Lux.

Light intensity Lux tells us how much light emitted by the source actually reaches the surface. It is , of course, depend on what is the distance of the light source from the plane. Just imagine a simple experiment , which involves shining lamp on the wall. As we move away from the wall , it will be less and less illuminated , which will decrease the number of Lux . The same applies to the focused light , that is, the angle of light distribution. Manufacturers of some light sources , LED street lights especially inform their customers how much Lux will be on a specific area , if the lamp mount at a height of 8, 10, or 12 meters. This information is particularly important from the point of view of lighting designers whose projects must meet certain standards , such as lighting shelf space is 500 lux , the rooms for filing 300 lux , while the position of drawing 750 lux. Interesting matter is when it comes to lighting stadiums. Requirements of the latest HD cameras are so high that objects wishing to television broadcasts could carry , must provide at least 1300 lux .

To measure the intensity of the light is the light meter , which allows examination of the intensity of light on the plane.
